If you are looking for a reliable Casio WK-6600 review then you have come to the right place.
For potential buyers that do not know, Casio is a true giant of a company that has accumulated a reputation for making great stuff.
If you are looking for a company that has a reputation for quality, then you have found it. Still, it is never safe to judge a product of the present based on products of the past. You need the specifics of what makes this piano special, and we have them.
We have taken a close look at the WK-6600 with the express purpose of simplifying your buying decision. Read on for a guide to what we learned!
Important Features
If you are going to make an informed decision, you need to understand what this keyboard can do. That in mind, let’s take a close look at some important features.
- Casio WK-6600 76-Key Workstation Keyboard - AC Adapter - Casio 1 Year Warranty - H&A Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones - Keyboard Stand - Keyboard Bench - Keyboard Sustain Pedal
- Number of keys: 76
- Touch Response: 2 sensitivity levels, off
- Display: 5.1 x 1.7" LCD with backlight (72 x 31 full dot)
- Pitch Bender: Yes (Wheel)
Affordable
While price may not be a feature per-say it is an important aspect of the buying process. If you are a buyer on a budget, you are going to like the price tag here.
While there are more affordable keyboards out there, they aren’t getting made by companies like Casio. This brand name board features a low-price tag that nevertheless comes with everything that you need to get started.
Though simpler than other boards out there, the features still make a fine starting point for pianists who are just beginning.
All In One
Another nice thing for beginners is that you get all the accessories you could need with this package. This includes a stand, a power source, headphones, and even a dustcover for the keyboard.
Generally speaking, keyboards in this price range don’t come with any of those features. That being the case, this is definitely nice to see.
The robust accessory package ensures that the value of this keyboard is not undermined by the need to purchase aftermarket accessories.
Loads Of Tones
One of the fun things about electric keyboards is that they come with different tone options. Some more than others. This would be a piano that falls into the “more than others,” category. You get a whopping eight hundred and twenty different tones with this keyboard.
These tones include both different instruments and a variety of different sound effects.
Will you use all of the tones?
Probably not. In fact, there is a decent chance you might not even ever hear all of them. However, the different tone options give you the chance to find a sound that you really love.
Onboard Recorder
Another benefit of keyboards is that they make it really easy to record your playing. This is another department in which the 6600 thrives. You get a seventeen-track recording capacity. More than enough room to record all of your music.
This is actually a bigger capacity than you might get with some of the higher-end options out there, which is always nice.
Sliders and knobs ensure that the fun doesn’t stop with simply recording your music. You can also adjust it at will to develop music that you really love.
Step-Up Lesson
Yet another feature that proves the WK-6600 is showing lots of love to the beginners. This board features over one hundred pre-programmed songs. Players of any skill level can activate this setting for guided playing.
The LCD panel will teach you how to play them by indicating which key to strike. The system even gives tips on proper tempo and fingering techniques.
Now, to be fair, this system certainly will not be able to replace lessons. However, it will serve as a nice supplementary resource.
Issues
We have addressed all of the stuff that this board gets right. Now it is time to take into account its weaknesses.
One of the first problems that we found was built into this keyboards design. Specifically, you don’t get a full set of keys here.
A standard piano comes with eighty-eight keys. The WK-6600 features only seventy-six. The discrepancy is actually fairly small (we see plenty of boards incomplete at 61 keys).
Still, a full board is always the gold standard. Why? Well simply because one day you might need a full set of keys.
The lack of a full set of keys means that experienced players probably won’t opt for this model.
We were also a little bit disappointed to find the keys weren’t weighted. The keys of acoustic pianos naturally provide resistance. For keyboards, this resistance needs to be deliberately added.
Weighted keys are the standard for higher-end keyboards. Unfortunately, products in this price range don’t always have them.
Last, we also found that the interface wasn’t extremely user-friendly. This issue shouldn’t necessarily be a deal breaker—just something to keep in mind. The layout isn’t quite as intuitive as we usually like to see.
These things aside it is a good piano available at a price that would be hard to beat.
Pros And Cons
- Affordable
- Great for recording
- All in one package
- Lots of tones
- Unweighted, incomplete key set
- Difficult to navigate interface

Conclusion
Well there you have it. It looks pretty good right? As you can clearly see, we found plenty to like about the Wk-6600.
We think that the right buyer will probably feel the same way.
If you are a concert pianist, you aren’t going to go for this instrument. It definitely trends on the simpler side. However, its simplicity lends itself well to its demographic. If you are a beginner or a budget buyer, you can get a great instrument at an extremely fair price.
In the world of piano, that is never a given.
Should you buy this keyboard? We can’t say. The ultimate decision is yours. We only hope that we made things a little bit easier for you.
